Pittsburgh makes Minnesota Vikings Unbeaten Season Disappears

Their was not any magic for Brett Favre and the Vikings this week as Pittsburgh Steelers makes the Viking unbeaten season disappears. The defensive unit negates the almost mythically magic comeback capability of Favre, which have been his calling card for this season with two key components in the game. The two components brought the Steelers their victory were the containment of Vikings' runningback Adrian Peterson and the defense returning 2 turnovers for touchdowns. The one shining highlight for the Vikings was Wide Receiver Percy Harvin. He showed why he might be the most explosive rookie this season as this is the second week he scores a touchdown returning the ball for the Special Teams. He scored on an 88 yard Kickoff return.

Fanzz_NFL_125x125.jpg

Pittsburgh showed up in the 4th quarter and played a complete game with intensity and focus. 40 yard strike from QB Ben Roethlisberger to Wide Receiver Mike Wallace was the Steelers only offensive touchdown in the game. Defense played a major part in the victory for the Steelers. Linebacker LaMarr Woodley accounts for the first defensive score when he returned a fumble off a Brett Favre's sack for 77 yards in the 4th quarter. Later in the 4th quarter, Linebacker Keyaron Fox puts another touchdown on the scoreboard with an interception of pass by Favre attended for Peterson. Fox returns the interception 82 yards that ultimately was the last score of the game. Overall, it was a great defensive effort on the Pittsburgh Steelers' behalf.

Two consecutive games the Vikings games were decided in the last quarter of play. A very good defensive squad that provides Favre little time to survey the field and find receivers along with stopping the best runningback in football Adrian Peterson will always have chance to beat the Vikings. Unlike the Denver Broncos, the Vikings had not proved that their record was a true reflection of the type of team they are. Too many last second comeback wins, it led me to think that it was just a matter of time before a loss comes. A loss came today at hands of the Pittsburgh Steelers. It really shows that Pittsburgh has the chops to possibly get back to the Super Bowl as they beat a very good Viking squad.

In Game Analysis: Minnesota VS Pittsburgh NFL Week 7

The Vikings offense have not been able to establish the run and thus far with the game in the 3rd quarter Adrian Peterson only has 34 yards on 14 carries. Pittsburgh defensive unit quickness is making it difficult for the passing game and they are easily keeping Peterson in check.

They are alot of hard hits as the Pittsburgh defense has shook up Vikings receiver Percy Harvin. It has been a Pittsburgh type game great defense and strong running game to control the clock.

Overall, it is a good game that will get even better when the 4th quarter begins. I picked Pittsburgh to win but 4th quarter have been problematic for the Steelers this year. They must have a strong 4th quarter or Brett Favre and company will find a way to win.

Great College Games on Saturday

It is difficult argue which was the best college football game on Saturday. The two most exciting that I either saw or watched the games highlights were the Tennessee versus Alabama and the Iowa versus Michigan State.

Iowa Hawkeyes needed the last play of game to stay undefeated. A touchdown pass from Quarterback Ricky Stanzi to Wide Receiver Marvin McNutt moved Iowa to 8-0 for first time in school history. It is a weekly occurrence that Iowa finds a way to win. Hawkeyes are showing grit but I know their fans do not like being at the edge of their seat for every victory. They will definitely take the 15-13 victory over Michigan State.

Tennessee's defense has kept them in the game in many notable ranked
opponents such as Florida and the game against Bama was not any different. A game that done most everything right to win the game but winning the game itself. Two plays by one giant of man sealed the fate of the Volunteers. It was two block field goals coming from the largest player on the Crimson Tide's squad Terrance "Mount" Cody. He blocked a kick earlier in the game, but it was Cody's blocked field goal on the last play of game that preserved the victory for the Crimson Tide 12-10.

Alabama will remain in the hunt for BCS Championship, but the scoring output of the offense must get better. Their strong defensive play will always give Bama a chance to win. Iowa is in uncharted territory with their record and in the talk for a possible BCS Bowl bid. Their offense must play a lot better and overall must keep winning to keep their team among the BCS talk. Both Alabama and Iowa played great games to remain unbeaten and in the hunt for a BCS title.

NFL Week 7 Minnesota Vikings VS Pittsburgh Steelers

Minnesota has scored over 30 points it last two games but in Week 7 expect a low scoring output from an offense that arguably has the best runningback and quarterback combination in the NFL. Adrian Peterson and Brett Favre must continue their great play in order to beat the Steelers. Pittsburgh's defense is possibly the best defense that the potent Vikings' offense has face this season. The Ravens was a field goal short from beating Minnesota and their defense gave up 33 points.

I expect a lower scoring game and I expect the Vikings to get their first loss when facing the Steelers. Minnesota is scoring points but they are not stopping the opposing team for scoring. Vikings lucks runs out this week. Big Ben has shown that he can be star when the running game of Steelers is almost non-existent. If the Pittsburg Steelers play a good game from start to finish they have chance to get a victory. Steelers defense tend to lose focus in the 4th quarter and they struggle which usually let the opposing team back into a game. Brett Favre will make them pay if the Steelers allow the Vikings to hang around.

Other notable games would be the Atlanta versus Dallas, I am anxious to see how well the Cowboys actually handle one of the better teams in the NFL. Two weeks in a row Atlanta has brought their "A" game and beat some very good competitors. I picked Dallas to win the game and everyone can see in the table below, I provide my predictions for this week:

Broncos, Saints, and Vikings Remain Undefeated in NFL Week 6

fanzz_gen_240x400

Denver Broncos, New Orleans Saints, and the Minnesota Vikings remain undefeated. Denver and New Orleans won their games in convincing fashion while Minnesota squeaks in the door of the unbeaten once again. Vikings escaped defeat b thanks to a missed field goal. The Giants failed from ranks of the undefeated as the Saints handed them their first loss. Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders won for the first time in the season. New England Patriots' Quarterback Tom Brady set an NFL record for most touchdowns passes thrown in a quarter when he threw 5 touchdowns against the ailing defense of the Tennessee Titans. Teams I picked did very well in week 6. I actually picked Vikings to win as my write supports my choice but I forgot to erase the Baltimore Ravens which was my choice in week 5 Game. I picked 10 winners out of 14 games for Week 6. I improved little from an atrocious Week 5.

The Green font = Correct Pick

The Red font = Incorrect Pick

  1. Atlanta Falcons VS Chicago Bears Final Score: 21-14

A great defensive game by both teams but it was a false start from veteran Offensive Lineman Orlando Pace that pushed the Chicago Bears back after only needing 1 yard on 4th down. Atlanta is beating quality teams and may be in the thick of things as season goes on.

Shop for jerseys for your favorite team

  1. Arizona Cardinals VS Seattle Seahawks Final Score: 27-3

Arizona showed some good defense as they held a team that blew out the Jaguars last week 41-0 to only 3 points in Week 6. Kurt Warner picked the defense apart to a tune of 276 yards and 2 touchdowns. Arizona kept the Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck grounded with 5 sacks. Larry Fitzgerald reached 100 yards receiving in their blowout victory.

  1. Baltimore Ravens VS Minnesota Vikings Final Score: 33-31

Minnesota Viking barely stays undefeated. QB Brett Favre, Wide Receiver Sidney Rice and Runningback Adrian Peterson had great games but a missed field goal by Ravens' Kicker Steven Hauschka is what brought the victory home for Minnesota.

  1. Buffalo Bills VS New York Jets Final Score: 16-13 OT

Jets' Rookie QB Mark Sanchez is starting to look like a rookie as he threw 5 interceptions in a losing effort; the bright spot for the Jets was Runningback Thomas Jones who rushed for 210 yards. Wide Receiver Lee Edwards for the Bills manage to grab a touchdown pass. Kicker Rian Lindell booted a 47 yard field goal to win the game.

  1. Carolina Panthers VS Tampa Bay Buccaneers Final Score: 28-21

Panthers manage to win their second straight game. The run was key element in the victory against the Buccaneers. Both Runningbacks Jonathan Stewart and DeAngelo Williams had over 100 yards rushing in the game.

  1. Cincinnati Bengals VS Houston Texans Final Score: 28-17

Houston's QB Matt Schaub had big day against the Bengals. He throws 4 touchdowns and amassed 392 yards passing. The Texans' defense kept the Bengals running game in check. A great game played by the Texans.

  1. Cleveland Browns VS Pittsburgh Steelers Final Score: 27-14

Big Ben put Cleveland's secondary in the shredder as he passes for 417 yards and 2 touchdowns in the game.

8.
Denver Broncos VS San Diego Chargers Final Score: 34-23

Denver remains unbeaten as they show once against that experts were wrong calling their outstanding play a fluke. Denver is winning with all around effort from both their defense and offense. Kyle Orton had few miscues and defense is rock solid. The highlights of the game came from Wide Receiver Eddie Royal. Royal returned punt and kickoff back for a touchdown.

  1. Detroit Lions VS Green Bay Packers Final Score: 26-0

Packers' QB Aaron Rodgers showed great accuracy as he went 29 of 37 for 358 yards. One pass in particular that was caught by Wide Receiver Donald Driver made Driver the all-time Receptions leader for the Packers. Packers' defense was outstanding as they did not let Lions put a point on the scoreboard.

  1. J Jacksonville Jaguars VS Saint Louis Rams Final Score 23-20 OT

A big game on the ground from Runningback Maurice Jones-Drew helped put Jaguars over the top. He had 3 rushing touchdowns and 133 yards. It is the Rams who also could not stop Jaguars' QB David Garrard who threw for over 300 yards. Kicker Josh Scobee kicked the game winning field goal.

  1. Kansas City Chiefs VS Washington Redskins Final Score 14-6

Kansas City gets their first victory of the season. This is the second winless team this season to get their first victory at the expense of the Washington Redskins.

  1. New England Patriots VS Tennessee Titans Final Score: 59-0

Tennessee had no answer for Tom Brady and company. Brady sets the NFL Record for most Touchdown passes in a quarter when he threw 5 touchdowns in the 2nd Quarter. For the Game Brady threw for six touchdowns. Titans have been quite disappointing this season.

13. New Orleans Saints VS New York Giants Final Score: 48-27 Giants fall and it took the Saints one half to put the NFC powerhouse out of the game. Checkout my post Saints Shows the Giants No Mercy in 48-27 Beat Down

14. Philadelphia Eagles VS Oakland Raiders Final Score: 13-9

Oakland's Jamarcus Russell throws a touchdown pass and his teams win. These are words that are rarely said when talking about the Oakland Raiders. Raiders hung on to win for the first time this season. This is perfect example while all games are won on the field. I had like most all other experts picked the Eagles to win easily. The highlight of game was the 86 yard touchdown pass from Jamarcus Russell to Tight End Zach Miller.

October 19, 2009

Saints Shows the Giants No Mercy in 48-27 Beat Down

Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints dominated in what many thought would be a close game against the New York Giants. The fierce pass rush of the Giants was neutralized as Brees and company stayed on the attack. It was not only Drew Brees having his typical mind boggling throwing numbers but it was an entire team effort that pummeled the Giants 48-27.

Fanzz_NFL_125x125.jpg

New York Giants secondary was torched for 368 yards of passing and 4 scores by Brees. He threw the ball long, short, and it did not matter where Brees passed he seemed to find a Saint. At one point, he made 15 consecutive completions. The 4 touchdown passes went to Wide Receivers Marques Colston, Robert Meachem, Lance Moore and Tight End Jeremy Shockey. The running game also took it shots at the Giants number 1 defense as runningbacks Mike Bell, Reggie Bush, Pierre Thomas, and fullback Heath Evans accounted for 3 rushing touchdowns and 133 yards on the ground.

Football Fans support your team!! Buy NFL Football Tickets at RazorGator

Saints' defense rattled Giants Quarterback Eli Manning. He only managed to complete 14 of 31 passes for 178 yards. The hype about Giants running game was just that hype. The New Orleans held New York's ground game to 84 yards. The Giants could only muster 17 points for the first half as a testament to a good defensive showing for Saints' defense in the first half. Saints shows their defense has teeth and overall had a good game.

New Orleans is no longer a team that resembles the greatest show on turf, St Louis Rams of the past as just a team with a high octane offense. Their defense is playing well thanks to Defensive Coordinator Gary Williams implementing a new defensive mentality in New Orleans. With the new found defense to complement the high wire offense, the Saints' more than convincing victory over the Giants is just a precursor to what the unit will achieve this season. A franchise that were once so bad they were called the "Aints" is now a squad that waits for another NFL team to jump up to get beat down like the Giants.

NFL Week 6: Battle of the Unbeatens

Razor-Gator - Buy Hard-to-Get Tickets

The game to watch this week will be the New York Giants versus the New Orleans Saints. Both teams have been impressive thus far in the season and are undefeated. The winner of this game will be tagged with the Best Team in NFL at the moment.

1. Atlanta Falcons VS Chicago Bears 8:20pm ET on NBC

Predicted Winner and Score: Chicago Bears 24-17

Atlanta beat a hot San Francisco team last week along with making a mockery of the 49ers' defense but this week they face another team known for their defense the Chicago Bears. Bears has great defense but an added wrinkle for this year is their offense is pretty good lead by QB Jay Cutler. Wide Receiver Johnny is emerging as another dangerous return man and Devin Hester is becoming a more complete wide receiver. Bears will win knockoff the Falcons.

2. Arizona Cardinals VS Seattle Seahawks 4:05pm ET on FOX

Predicted Winner and Score: Arizona 24-21

Seattle shocks everyone with the beat down of the Jacksonville Jaguars, but I expect Kurt Warner and company to win and match the Seahawks point for point.

3. Baltimore Ravens VS Minnesota Vikings 1:00pm ET on CBS

Predicted Winner and Score: Baltimore 24-10

Ravens needs a win, but if they have a repeat performance of uncharacteristically allowing 100 yards rushing then expect Vikings runningback Adrian Peterson to have a great game. A great game by Peterson usually translates to Vikings' victory.

4. Buffalo Bills VS New York Jets 4:15pm ET on CBS

Predicted Winner and Score: New York Jets 21-7

New York Jets should get back to their winning ways as they face a Buffalo offense that is struggling in the worst way. The defense of the Jets after the lost to Miami has much to prove which should allow fans to see better play from the defensive squad. QB Mark Sanchez and newly acquired WR Braylon Edwards should have a big day.

5. Carolina Panthers VS Tampa Bay Buccaneers 1:00pm ET on FOX

Predicted Winner and Score: Carolina 24-3

The Panthers will have chance to get another victory as they face a Buccaneers unit who is troubled on both sides of the ball. Steve Smith have not had a breakout game as of yet and I look for an explosion on Smith's part. I predict an easy victory for Carolina

6. Cincinnati Bengals VS Houston Texans 1:00pm ET on CBS

Predicted Winner and Score: Houston 28 - 21

Cincinnati is a surprise team in the NFL but I feel the Texans have their number this week. Matt Schaub and the Texans was a goal line stand from winning last week. Two of the best wide receivers in the league Andre Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald will play which give both teams a chance.

7. Cleveland Browns VS Pittsburgh Steelers 1:00pm ET on FOX

Predicted Winner and Score: Pittsburgh 28 - 14

Pittsburgh Steelers in a blowout victory will be the outcome of this game. Steelers expect runningback Willie Parker and Safety Troy Polamalu to play in this game.

8.
Denver Broncos VS San Diego Chargers 8:30pm ET on ESPN

(Monday Football Game)

Predicted Winner and Score: San Diego 24-17

Denver has shown their defense is a force to deal with and Kyle Orton makes very few mistakes. These are usually great ingredients for a win, but I look for Phillip Rivers and the Chargers win this game. A great defensive game will be needed because as mentioned Orton makes few mistakes.

9.
Detroit Lions VS Green Bay Packers 1:00pm ET on FOX

Predicted Winner and Score: Green Bay 24-14

Aaron Rodgers when he stays on his feet is great QB. His offensive line has been atrocious and he faces a lot of pressure and is sacked often. Rodgers has Donald Drivers to throw to along with Greg Jennings which makes this a better offensive unit of the two teams. QB Daunte Culpepper will get his second start for the Detroit Lions. Packers win game but Lions will not make it easy.

10. Jacksonville Jaguars VS Saint Louis Rams 1:00pm ET on FOX

Predicted Winner and Score:
Jacksonville 28-14

Jacksonville will be happy to see the Rams on the schedule. After a blowout loss last week, David Garrard and company will easily win. The Rams have not proved they can stop any team. RB Stephen Jackson is the only bright spot on this team and some think he maybe traded before the trade deadline.

11.
Kansas City Chiefs VS Washington Redskins 1:00pm ET on CBS

Predicted Winner and Score: Kansas City 24-17

The Chiefs will attempt to duplicate the feat of the Detroit Lions by being the next winless team to beat the Redskins. Matt Cassel and Larry Johnson need an above average game to get the victory. Redskins' offense needs to come from their vacation and put some points on the board. The personnel on the offensive side of the ball should lead to more point production than what have been achieved thus far this season. Chiefs get their first victory this week.

12.
New England Patriots VS Tennessee Titans 4:15pm ET on CBS

Predicted Winner and Score: New England 28-7

Patriots have too much offensive firepower for Titans to get their first victory. Titans disastrous season will not get any better this week because Tom Brady along with Randy Moss and Wes Welker will exploit their defense every chance they get.

13. New Orleans Saints VS New York Giants 1:00pm ET on FOX

Predicted Winner and Score: New Orleans Saints 28-21

The battle of Unbeatens will make it the Sportymouth's Game of the Week. The Saints I expect to remain unbeaten mainly because of their explosive offense and much improved defense. If the Saints can protect QB Drew Brees from the Giants' fierce pass rush then they can get a victory. Giants have Eli Manning and rushing attack that will always keep other defenses on their toes. The Saints cannot let the Giants control the ball. Giants are favored in a low scoring affair but I expect a lot of scoring from both offenses. A high scoring game is a game the Saints will win in the end.

14. Philadelphia Eagles VS Oakland Raiders 4:05pm ET on FOX

Predicted Winner and Score: Philadelphia 24-14

Philadelphia plays possibly the weakest team in the NFL in the Oakland Raiders. QB Donovan McNabb will have a great game and that will be the difference. Oakland needs an overall better effort from their entire team. This year their squad has not looked too competitive. Jamarcus Russell needs to step his game up.

October 16, 2009

Trojans Will Overpower the Fighting Irish

USC will dominate in the game against Notre Dame, because of their outstanding defense. The defensive unit can get to the quarterback and in order to rattle the most pass efficient QB in college Jimmy Clausen, the defense must apply pressure.

Jimmy Clausen and Golden Tate must have near perfect game to have chance. If Clausen have a big game looks for him to move to top of the list of Heisman hopefuls. If he somehow he can lead the Fighting Irish passed the Trojans then he becomes the frontrunner but that is a big if.

Notre Dame has offensive firepower, but their defense is far below average and that will not stop the running attack of USC. Well to add to Fighting Irish's worries, Trojan QB will get another weapon with the return of wide receiver Ronald Johnson.

Trojans wins big in this game. In this game, if the USC comes into the game and does not play up to the level they are capable of then Notre Dame will have a chance. The running attack will be too much. The defense will make it difficult for both Clausen and Tate. The only highlight I see for the Fighting Irish is Clausen throwing a couple of touchdowns. This is an easy victory for the Trojans.

Red River Rivalry Among Friends

Razor-Gator - Buy Hard-to-Get Tickets
The best of friends will meet on the gridiron in this year Red River Rivalry between the 3rd ranked Texas Longhorns and the 20th ranked Oklahoma Sooners. Oklahoma's Quarterback Sam Bradford and Texas's QB Colt McCoy have shown the world they are the best of friends. What friend will have bragging rights for winning the Red River Rivalry after Saturday's game. McCoy does not have his usual mistake free passing as he have thrown for 6 interceptions compared to throwing only 8 picks for the entire season last year. McCoy is on a team that I considers one of the best in the nation. Bradford high hopes for the season were dashed with a shoulder injury and his team taking two losses.

See the Red River Rivalry or other College Football games when you purchase NCAA Football Tickets

Bradford is still in line to be the number 1 pick of next year's NFL Draft, but this week focus is to beat his friend McCoy and rival Texas. In order to beat his friend, Bradford and the Sooners must play mistake free football and score touchdowns. Settling for field goals will not beat Texas. Defense must slow down a Texas offense that leads the nation in scoring with over 40 points per game.

Colt McCoy takes an undefeated Texas team into battle with a Sooners' team who can upend their season with a victory. Sooners are quite capable of pulling off the upset; but as mentioned earlier, it must be a nearly perfect effort on their behalf. The Longhorns keys to victory are to pressure Sam Bradford, generate a running attack, and limit their turnovers.

Texas has a great defense, and it will be the difference that will pull out the victory for the Longhorns. I expect a high scoring affair, but I feel Texas defense will get a stop or two when they need it. McCoy cannot add interceptions to his resume because Bradford's Sooners will turn any miscue into a score. At the end of the game, Texas Longhorns wins by a touchdown. McCoy gets the bragging rights this year that he beat his friend Sam Bradford in the Red River Rivalry.

NFL Week 5 Wrap Up

Week 5 of the NFL season had a few shockers and the true validation of the Denver Broncos as being a legitimate contender in the AFC happened with the victory over the New England Patriots. The Seahawks saw the return of Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck who led the Seattle Seahawks to the most shocking defeat of the week with the thrashing of the Jacksonville Jaguars 41-0. Dallas Cowboys are mediocre and their play against the Kansas City Chiefs who they should have easily beat clearly supports such mediocrity. Early showboating for the San Francisco 49ers and terrible play were lowlights in their loss to Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons. Donovan McNabb returned to from injury and led the Eagles to victory.

I had a terrible week picking the winners in Week 5. I know not many expected the Jaguars to get blown out by 41 points. I only managed to pick 8 out of 14 games correctly. Many close games could have gone either way sunk my ship in Week 5, but I will rebound in Week 6.

The team in red represents an incorrect predicted pick.

The team in green represents a correct predicted pick.

1. Atlanta Falcons VS San Francisco Final Score: 45-10

Atlanta Wide Receiver torched defense for 210 yards receiving and Runningback Michael Turner scored three touchdowns. The 49er's defense had it worst outing of the season.

2. Arizona Cardinals VS Houston Texans Final Score: 28-21

The "Bend don't Break" rule was clearly in effect during this game. Arizona wins the game on an important goal line stand. A reminder of great football stands in the past.

3. Baltimore Ravens VS Cincinnati Bengals Final Score: 17-14

Bengals' QB Carson Palmer hooked up with WR Andre Caldwell for a 20 yard touchdown pass. The Ravens lose another close game.

4. Buffalo Bills VS Cleveland Browns Final Score: 6-3

One team had to win in this game and the final score really just shows how inept both offensive units were during the game.

5. Carolina Panthers VS Washington Redskins Final Score: 20-17

Carolina finally gets their first victory over a struggling Washington team. Washington's offense needs a complete overhaul so expect drastic changes at the end of the season.

6. Dallas Cowboys VS Kansas City Chiefs Final Score: 26 – 20 OT

Dallas is slowly proven the critics correct as most think they are overrated. This game should not have gone into overtime. WR Miles Austin had career game with 250 yards and two touchdown grabs. The Cowboys could have discovered an alternative to the Roy Williams' experiment.

A great way to keep up with your team's in depth information is to Subscribe to ESPN Insider today - as low as $2.50/month

7.
Denver Broncos VS New England Patriots Final Score: 20-17 OT

With the victory over the Patriots, the Broncos have proven they are contenders. Many experts including myself were not sold on team who was one fluke catch from falling from the ranks of the unbeaten. This game had some great defense on display by both teams.

8.
Detroit Lions VS Pittsburgh Steelers Final Score: 28-20

Three touchdown passes by Ben Roethlisberger and defense won the game for the Steelers. Pittsburgh manages to string two consecutive wins together and win on the road for the first time during the season.

9. Indianapolis Colts VS Tennessee Titans Final Score:
31-9

It was another impressive game by QB Peyton Manning. He throws for over 300 yards yet again. Manning has thrown for over 300 yards in every game this year. The question needs to be asked how long the Titans will allow Kerry Collins to start without a victory. It is difficult to think the Titans will make an appearance in the playoffs; therefore, the season is a bust compared to a 13-3 won loss record of last season.

10. Jacksonville Jaguars VS Seattle Seahawks Final Score: 41-0

Seahawks' Matt Hasselbeck makes a big splash in his return. He throws 4 touchdowns and for 241 yards. It was a quite impressive outing. Jaguars did not show up and everyone in America thought this game would a lot closer, because in previous weeks Jacksonville has played well.

11. Minnesota Vikings VS Saint Louis Rams Final Score: 38-10

The Vikings wins another game, but the Rams are one of the worst teams in the NFL. The schedule gets tougher for the Vikings in next few weeks and then America will find out about Favre's best team ever. It was the first victory for Brett Favre at age 40 years old.

12. New York Giants VS Oakland Raiders Final Score: 44-7

Once again Raiders' cannot generate an offensive attack. The Giants remain undefeated and Eli Manning Starting Games streak is still alive. Word of advice to Oakland, Michael Vick is tired of being on the sidelines of the Eagles, he may be available and he definitely would be more exciting than Jamarcus Russell.

13. New York Jets VS Miami Dolphins Final Score: 31-27

In my post Rex See Wildcats Run Pass the Jets, It shows that the Jets defense could not stop the Dolphins' Wildcat offense. Rookie QB Mark Sanchez played well but it was done for a losing cause. Dolphins Chad Henne picked apart the Jets' defense.

14.
Philadelphia Eagles VS Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Final Score: 33-14

QB Donovan McNabb returns to the Eagles' lineup and his play was impressive as usual. The question now is Will Michael Vick be satisfied playing a minimum role in the offense? Kevin Kolb has shown he is capable backup in the absence of McNabb and that does not lead to much playing time if McNabb goes down again.

Rex See Wildcat Run Pass the Jets

Monday night football marked the thrilling end to Week 5 of the NFL season. Rex Ryan's New York Jets found that it is not an easy task to stop the Wildcat offense of the Miami Dolphins. Quarterback Chad Henne was spectacular in the victory over the Jets. He threw for 241yards and two touchdowns. The Wildcat may be a gimmick offense but defensive minds that led the Jets could not stop the effectiveness of the gimmick offense. Jets saw 110 yards amassed with the use of the Wildcat. It was led by both runningbacks Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams.

Dolphins controlled the clock as the Jets defense could not find an answer for the Wildcat offense. The 31-27 victory for the Miami allowed the team to get back into the hunt of things. Braylon Edwards had big game along with the rookie QB Mark Sanchez. The offense put points on the board but the usual great defense of the Jets was not there.

Overall, the Dolphins offense was impressive that pulled victory out in the end. It once again adds to the mystique of executing the Wildcat in a game. Dolphins have shown that it works. With the emergence of Chad Henne, it could mean more potent offensive attack for the Dolphins. Ronnie Brown scores the winning touchdown from two yards out. Brown also threw a pass in the game from the Wildcat. It shows that the Wildcat formation is quite versatile. Jets saw how well the Wildcat be ran and result was another loss for them in the young season.----------------------------------------

NFL Week 5 Predictions

1. Atlanta Falcons VS San Francisco 49ers 4:05pm ET on Fox

Predicted Winner and Score: San Francisco 28-21

Football Fans support your team!! Buy NFL Football Tickets at RazorGator

Defense is San Francisco calling card and Atlanta's QB Matt Ryan will have his work cut out for him. He has not been able to find Wide Receiver Roddy White with some consistency; therefore, with a ground game to keep Linebacker Patrick Willis honest, Matt Ryan should easily find White with the use of the play action pass. Shaun Hill finds a way to win without a certified go to receiver. His main target is Tight End Vernon Davis.

2. Arizona Cardinals VS Houston Texans 4:15pm ET on CBS

Predicted Winner and Score: Arizona 24-21

This game may be the shootout of the week. Kurt Warner leads an offense that can put points on the board in a hurry. The defense of Arizona can be questionable at times and if they lapse for a second Matt Schaub and Wide Receiver Andre Johnson will make them pay. I expect Arizona to win this shootout.

Shop for jerseys for your favorite team

3. Baltimore Ravens VS Cincinnati Bengals 1:00pm ET on CBS

Predicted Winner and Score: Baltimore 24-10

Both teams are playing well, but the Ravens' defense will be the difference maker in the game. They will be coming after Bengal's QB Carson Palmer. He is not a mobile QB, and that is a liability when facing Ray Lewis. Running the football is mainstay for the offense and in this game; therefore the fans should expect a lot from Ravens' runningback tandem of Ray Rice and Willis McGahee.

4. Buffalo Bills VS Cleveland Browns 1:00pm ET on CBS

Predicted Winner and Score: Buffalo 21-17

A very interesting game as both teams looks for a victory. Braylon Edwards is no longer a Brown and Derek Anderson must find a reliable target to throw to when trying to move the chains. The Bills has shown that they can be competitive but have turned the ball over during important situations in the game. Runningback Fred Jackson has been surprise this season and will help Bills greatly in the game. I expect Trent Edwards to play better and Terrell Owens needs to show up for this game.

5. Carolina Panthers VS Washington Redskins 1:00pm ET on FOX

Predicted Winner and Score: Carolina 24-10

Redskins needs a much improved offense or better play calling. Carolina Panthers has a defense that can stop anyone in the league and how the Redskins' offense has performed; the Panthers should easily stop the Redskins offense. Jake Delhomme must not turn the ball over because that has hurt Carolina all season. Carolina wins with a big game out of DeAngelo Williams and few catches from Steve Smith.

6. Dallas Cowboys VS Kansas City Chiefs 1:00pm ET on FOX

Predicted Winner and Score: Dallas 28 - 14

Dallas Cowboys needs a win and a better performance from QB Tony Romo. At this point in the season, the Chiefs are not quality competition and should be easily beaten by the Cowboys. Dallas must prove themselves in bigger games and they have yet to do that this season. Dallas beats Kansas City with their running game.

7.
Denver Broncos VS New England Patriots 4:15pm ET on CBS

Predicted Winner and Score: New England 24-17

Denver has shown this season that their defense is quite capable of stopping an offense. New England will be without the services of their leading rusher Runningback Fred Taylor. The weapons of Tom Brady and Randy Moss will win this game through the air.

8.
Detroit Lions VS Pittsburgh Steelers 1:00pm ET on CBS

Predicted Winner and Score: Pittsburgh 24-7

Veteran Daunte Culpepper will get the start for the Lions but the game remains an uphill battle for the Lions. Detroit should expect to see Pittsburgh run ball with effectiveness with the emergence of runningback Rashard Mendenhall. QB Ben Roethlisberger leads the offense and will be relied upon if the running game stalls.

9. Indianapolis Colts VS Tennessee Titans 8:20pm ET on NBC

Predicted Winner and Score:
Indianapolis 28-14

Tennessee needs a victory but it difficult to imagine a victory over the hottest quarterback in the NFL this year, Peyton Manning. Titans secondary have been suspect all year and Peyton Manning will exploit the secondary's weaknesses with ease; therefore, Indianapolis remains unbeaten.

10.
Jacksonville Jaguars VS Seattle Seahawks 4:15pm ET on CBS

Predicted Winner and Score: Jacksonville 31-24

With the return, Matt Hasselbeck to line up will perhaps make some difference. Hasselbeck will be rusty and will not make enough of a difference to lead the Seahawks to victory. On the other hand, QB David Garrard has played well the last few weeks and in this game it should not be an exception. Jaguars feast on the Seahawks.

11.
Minnesota Vikings VS Saint Louis Rams 1:00pm ET on FOX

Predicted Winner and Score: Minnesota 28-7

Adrian Peterson for 176 yards and two touchdowns is what I expect for this game. It will be a big day for Peterson and Brett Favre will not have to win the game as he did against his former Packer team last week. St. Louis needs a victory, but if they are second team to finish 0-16 in season it will not be too surprising to football fans.

12. New York Giants VS Oakland Raiders 1:00pm ET on CBS

Predicted Winner and Score: New York Giants 21-7

Giants should rest QB Eli Manning because this game could be won without him. Manning is expected to start despite his right foot heel injury. The running game for the Giants should be great against Oakland. QB Jamarcus Russell needs to play better football as does the entire Raider Team. Giants win easily with or without Eli Manning.

13. New York Jets VS Miami Dolphins 8:30pm ET on ESPN

(Monday Night Football Game)

Predicted Winner and Score: New York Jets 21-10

Jets' defense will tame the Wildcat of Miami. The newly acquired Wide Receiver Braylon Edwards will play, but it is difficult to expect him have a great effect on the outcome of the game. I am anxious to see the progression of rookie QB Mark Sanchez after the loss last week. He should show that he can bounce back from a loss and take care of business. Chad Henne gets his second start and it will be difficult going against a Jets' defense that like to blitz.

14.
Philadelphia Eagles VS Tampa Bay Buccaneers 1:00pm ET on FOX

Predicted Winner and Score: Philadelphia 24-14

QB Donovan McNabb returns to the starting line up and that spells bad news for Tampa Bay. It will be interested to see how much playing time Michael Vick will see with McNabb under center. I expect a great passing game by McNabb. Tampa Bay offense is struggling and do not expect it to get on track this game as they take another loss.

#1 Florida Gators Wins with or without Tim Tebow

The top ranked Florida Gators will get their biggest test to date when they play the LSU Tigers on Saturday, October 10, 2009 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Tiger Stadium is nicknamed Death Valley is a nightmare for opposing teams to play because of the crowd noise. The crowd noise could have an adverse effect on Tim Tebow if he plays in the game. It is a big game that the Gators may have to play without the services of their brightest star, Quarterback Tim Tebow. After suffering a concussion, Tebow must be cleared by a doctor to play. Tebow is not the typical QB, and his style of play will make it difficult to avoid further injury. Tebow does not avoid contact and he fights for yardage; therefore, it would difficult not to expect the same play in Saturday's game. If doctors clear him to play Tebow will more than likely start but I would watch how tentative is he when making the running options needed to make the Gators offense go. If he tentative then he should be on the sideline because that is not Tebow's game. He must run like the runner he has shown college football.

Many experts think that Gators cannot beat the LSU without Tebow but, I beg to differ. The backup Quarterback John Brantley is more capable passer and accuracy is amazing. He is not going to beat anyone in a foot race but he is the prototypical drop back passer. If Brantley gets the start he is capable of leading Florida to victory. LSU defense is not good at stopping the pass; therefore, Brantley could pick them apart with his accuracy.

Looking beyond the Florida's quarterback situation, the Gators have a relentless defense. The Gators have speed and more speed that will devour most offensive units. The defense is lead by Linebacker Brandon Spikes. They do not allow many points by the offense of the opposing teams they face. LSU offense's is slowly coming together, but they must score touchdowns to beat this Florida team, because field goals are not going to get the job done.

Running game is still present for Florida Gators and without Tebow the ball will be moved on the ground. Runningbacks Jeffrey Demps, Brandon James, and Emmanuel Moody will keep the LSU defense off balance with their attack on the ground. Running game averages nearly 9 yards per carry.

LSU Tigers are not going to just give game to the Gators and they must have an impressive defensive showing to have chance. Whatever quarterback starts for Florida they will have to be aware of Defensive End Rahim Ahem, because the Tigers will be sending him every chance they get. They must get to the quarterback in this game especially if Brantley gets the start who is a better passer than Tebow.

On the offensive side of the ball the key success for the Tigers would be quite simply to protect Quarterback Jordan Jefferson. Jefferson must show that is he comfortable in the pocket, but his comfort zone is when he is rolling out or using the play action pass. Jefferson must keep his mistakes to the minimum and the offensive line must give him time to throw when needed. The Tigers must put touchdowns on the board.

Florida wins the game, and it will not matter if Tebow starts or if Brantley gets the start. Defense of Florida will be too much for LSU. LSU has not shown that their line can protect Jefferson on a consistent basis. The running game as mentioned earlier will be another element that will push the Gators pass the Tigers in this game.

NFL Week 4 Wrap-UP

Week 4 ends with a Minnesota Viking win over Green Bay Packers marking the first time in NFL history that a quarterback has been victorious against all 32 NFL teams. The quarterback of course is Packers' favorite son Brett Favre. He truly was strong armed heavy with three touchdowns in the game. Broncos, Colts, Giants, and the Saints have yet to taste the agony of defeat with 4-0 records. Chicago Bears played QB Matthew Stafford rapper Jay Z by sending Stafford a reminder that he is still a rookie. The production in New York Jet country "The Second coming of Broadway Joe" took an intermission. Rookie Mark Sanchez looked more like a rookie than Broadway Joe in the Jets' loss to an undefeated Saints' team. 49ers win with defense and the St Louis Rams' maybe the new Detroit Lions as their losing streak continues. Tom Brady and company are slowly becoming the team most fear. The Denver Broncos have clearly added some toughness to their team with better defense that was on display in their win over the Cowboys. Peyton Manning is dialed in with great passing game after game. Bengals are the best professional football team in Ohio. Quarterback change in Cleveland does not stop the team's woes but the offense showed some life in their loss against their state rival Cincinnati Bengals. Week 4 I found little groove as I picked 11 out of 14 games correctly.

The team in red represents an incorrect predicted pick.

The team in green represents a correct predicted pick.

1. Baltimore Ravens
VS New England Patriots

Final Score: 27-21

Ravens fall from the Unbeaten at the hands of a few controversial roughing the passer calls. Wide Receiver Randy Moss catches his first touchdown pass of the season. Mark Clayton forgot a receiver fundamental and that is to catch the football with your hands. Clayton drop on 4th down was costly for the Ravens. Brady cried foul and the referees listened.

2. Buffalo Bills VS Miami Dolphins

Final Score: 38-10

Miami hit the Bills with Wildcat and help QB Chad Henne in his first start. Runningback Ronnie Brown performance allowed Miami to control the clock. Brown rushed for two scores along with 115 yards. By far, Miami has shown that Wildcat is a mainstay in their offense. It will be relied upon even more now that Chad Pennington is out for the season.

3. Cincinnati Bengals VS Cleveland Browns

Final Score: 23-20

Cincinnati continues win games late and the Cleveland Browns are still the Browns. Derek Anderson sparked the offense but not enough to burn the Bengals. A scrambling Carson Palmer put the Bengals in position to win the game with a 15 yard run Palmer's run put the kicker Shayne Graham in position to boot a game winning field goal from 31 yards out.

4. Dallas Cowboys VS Denver Broncos

Final Score: 17-10

Surprise, Surprise the Denver Broncos are 4-0, and they are playing great defense. Wide Receiver Brandon Marshall was a Bronco that Cowboys could not corral as his catch and Cowboys' poor tackling lead to his winning touchdown catch.

5. Detroit Lions VS Chicago Bears

Final Score: 48-24

Chicago made sure that would not be two game winning streak for the Lions as they dismantled the Lions defense. Lions had a scare as their number 1 pick QB Matthew Stafford went down with a knee injury. I must mention speedster Johnny Knox with his kickoff return of 102 yards who shows that Devin Hester is not the only threat in the Bears' return game.

6.
Green Bay Packers VS Minnesota Vikings

(Monday Night Football Game)

Brett Favre becomes only NFL QB to beat all 32 NFL franchises. He actually achieved what he wanted is to get a victory. Adrian Peterson looked normal, and a strip of ball on one of Peterson's rushes by rookie Clay Matthews led to a score. The game showed that with a healthy Brett Favre all things are possible for the Vikings.

Final Score: 30-23

7.
New York Giants VS Kansas City Chiefs

Final Score: 27-16

Eli Manning and company continue to roll as they take their record to 4-0. Steve Smith had another great game and is slowly becoming the Steve Smith that everyone is talking about instead of the great receiver Steve Smith for the Carolina Panthers.

8. New York Jets VS New Orleans Saints

Final Score: 24-10

Rookie Mark Sanchez played like a rookie and New Orleans showed that they win on the ground instead of through the air. The Saints are showing the league that they can win with a balance attack.

9.
Oakland Raiders VS Houston Texans

Final Score: 29-6

QB Jamarcus Russell needs to learn how to play the NFL QB position. He has yet another lackluster showing in the game. Houston defense held the Raiders to 165 yards. Steve Slaton had two scores which were the highlights of the game

10.
San Diego Chargers VS Pittsburgh Steelers

Final Score: 38-28

Runningback Rashard Mendenhall 165 yards rushing is a glimpse of the smashmouth running game that everyone have grown to expect from the Steelers, but a good running game has been non-existent in the Steelers' arsenal. Pittsburgh continues to let people back into the game as Philip Rivers nearly brings his Charger team to a victory but Steelers' defense tighten up when it had to.

11. Seattle Seahawks VS Indianapolis Colts

Final Score: 34-17

Peyton Manning continues an assault on the passing records in the NFL. Manning throws his 342nd touchdown and that is third all-time behind Brett Favre and Dan Marino. The Colts has not lost a step since retirement of Head Coach Tony Dungy. Peyton also had another game that passing for over 300 yards and as long as such play continues for him, the Colts will have a chance to win.

12. St. Louis Rams VS San Francisco 49ers

Final Score: 35-0

The 49ers show a much improved defense this year and holding the Rams scoreless is a testament to their defense. Well, it also the Rams who are the new Lions. QB Shaun Hill throws for 2 touchdown passes and he managed the game pretty well.

13.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers VS Washington Redskins

Final Score: 16-13

Redskins get a win but the offense still looked lethargic. Wide receiver Santana Moss played a good game. He had 2 catches and one he took to the house. Jason Campbell and the offense need to greatly improve in order for Redskins to win on a consistent basis.

14.
Tennessee Titans
VS Jacksonville Jaguars

Final Score: 37-17

Titans are in jeopardy of not making the playoffs. The hottest team last year has now lost 4 in a row. The defense is playing terrible. QB David Garrard passes for 323 yards and 3 touchdowns. I been wrong again with the Titans as I thought this would be the week the Titians would get their first victory. Garrard looked like he was playing one of those games you find in Madden 2010 and for the Titans they wish they could hit the reset button on this season.

NFL Week 4 Predictions

1. Baltimore Ravens
VS New England Patriots 1:00pm ET on CBS

Predicted Winner and Score: Baltimore 24-17

Tom Brady and company faces a much improved offense of the Ravens than in years pass, but what will tell the story in this game will be the defensive pressure used to force Brady out of pocket and rush his throws. Joe Flacco is playing Pro Ball quality football and improved offense benefits greatly from such improved play.

2. Buffalo Bills VS Miami Dolphins 4:05pm ET on CBS

Predicted Winner and Score: Miami 21 10

Dolphins are masters of running the Wild Cat formation and expect a heavy dose of it if second year quarterback Chad Henne has a poor outing. Ball control is what to expect out of the Dolphins. Inexperience quarterback trying to lead a team back to playoffs after starting 0-3 could be too large of obstacle to climb. Dolphins should get their first victory against the Bills.

3. Cincinnati Bengals VS Cleveland Browns 1:00pm ET on CBS

Predicted Winner and Score: Cincinnati 24-10

Derek Anderson has been given the keys to this rambling wreck of a football team to resurrect the lifeless offense of the Browns. Cincinnati is playing good football. The Bengals beat the Pittsburgh last week, and their only worry is letting themselves down in a game they should easily dominate.

4. Dallas Cowboys VS Denver Broncos 4:15pm ET on FOX

Predicted Winner and Score: Dallas 28-17

Dallas may have found a formula for wins, and a key element to their success is the running game. The Cowboys are averaging over 200 yards per game on the ground which leads to longer possessions. Denver record is 3-0, but I consider their team to be at the bottom of the undefeated teams because they have won by luck and victory includes one over the Oakland Raiders. Raiders as team seem lost without direction; therefore, the Broncos need to get win against better competition. The Broncos defense is great against run and Dallas will run the ball. It will come down to who wants it more.

5. Detroit Lions VS Chicago Bears 1:00pm ET on Fox

Predicted Winner and Score: Chicago 21 10

Detroit new found winning streak will end at 1 game. Jay Cutler should easily lead his squad over the Lions. Cutler has played well and as long as he continues to play well expects more victories for the Bears. Bears' defense will remind Lions' QB Matthew Stafford that he is still a rookie.

6.
Green Bay Packers VS Minnesota Vikings 8:30pm ET on ESPN

(Monday Night Football Game)

Everyone knows the storyline coming into the game but the focus should be on stopping Adrian Peterson. Bret Favre could become first quarterback ever to defeat each team in the league if he can lead the Vikings to victory. Minnesota have far better defense than the Packers. A great game for Peterson means a lot of play action passing for Favre.

Predicted Winner and Score: Minnesota 28-21

7.
New York Giants VS Kansas City Chiefs 1:00pm ET on Fox

Predicted Winner and Score: New York Giants 24-7

I expect more of the Giants winning ways. New York will look to run the ball and control the clock. Kansas City would need to protect their QB Matt Cassel from the Giants' pass rush. Once the Chiefs stop with mental errors such as amassing penalties, they will become a better team. For now, the Giants will get a big victory over the Chiefs.

8. New York Jets VS New Orleans Saints 4:05pm ET on CBS

Predicted Winner and Score:
New Orleans 28-21

New Orleans is scoring and taking no prisoners. The Jets defense has disrupted many passing games and if it can slow down Drew Brees then the Jets will have a chance. The Saints running game has improved and this will help slow any pass rush down.

9.
Oakland Raiders VS Houston Texans 1:00pm ET on CBS

Predicted Winner and Score: Houston 24-16

The Texans has Andre Johnson and Matt Schaub both who can make life miserable for the Raiders. Jamarcus Russell needs to greatly improve his play to help the Raiders become a better team. The atmosphere around the Raiders need to change too much dysfunctional behavior going on in the camp to see this team correcting the problems until they clean house from the top down.

10.
San Diego Chargers VS Pittsburgh Steelers 8:20pm ET on NBC

Predicted Winner and Score: Pittsburgh 21-14

Pittsburgh running game has suffered, and they rely more on Ben Roethlisberger's arm. Pittsburgh will improve as a team once they get consistent effort from beginning to the end of the game. The Steelers usually start strong but finishes game far below the caliber of play that brought them a Super Bowl ring last year. The Chargers running game is suffering, but it should get a boost with the return of LaDainian Tomlinson.

11. Seattle Seahawks VS Indianapolis Colts 1:00pm ET on FOX

Predicted Winner and Score: Indianapolis 28-14

Peyton Manning is on fire this season and look for him to torch the Seahawk's defense for at least two touchdown passes. Defensive End Dwight Freeney will not play; therefore the pass rush must come form other places. Seneca Wallace will get the start for the Seattle.

12. St. Louis Rams VS San Francisco 49ers 4:15pm ET on FOX

Predicted Winner and Score: San Francisco 21-7

49ers will get back to their winning ways and the 49ers should easily defeat the Rams.

Expect Shaun Hill to target Tight End Vernon Davis who would have been the MVP if not for Favre miracle throw to win the game last week.

13.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers VS Washington Redskins 1:00pm ET on FOX

Predicted Winner and Score: Washington 17-14

Two of the worst team in the NFL face-off for a much needed victory by both squads. Washington needs a win to bounce back from the loss to the Lions. Both offenses are struggling to score touchdowns.

14.
Tennessee Titans
VS Jacksonville Jaguars 1:00pm ET on CBS

Predicted Winner and Score: Tennessee 23-14

Titans I consider the best football that has n record of 0-3. This is the week the Titans get a victory. It will help the Titans if wide receivers hang on to the ball. Kerry Collins has thrown some catchable balls that have been dropped. A victory is needed if the Titans expect to make the playoffs.
